The green pick: Honda FCX Clarity

Honda Motor Company, which is the second biggest Japanese automaker, takes its social responsibilities seriously. Aside from promoting the wellness and satisfying the expectations of the Honda vehicle users, the company also has the utmost consideration for the environment’s state. In fact, Honda is in continuous pursuit for developing the most efficient green automobile. At present, the Honda FCX Clarity is the latest green car offering of the automaker.
"We all agree there are problems with global warming," said Ed McCurry of Salem-based O’Brien Auto Group. "This is a tremendously green car."
Introduced last November, the Honda FCX Clarity went beyond those vehicles that boast of lesser emissions or efficient engines. This green car can take pride in its ultimately free of any noxious gas emissions. Instead, FCX only emits water.

Enabling this Honda to operate is its several power sources. The V Flow stack primarily makes the vehicle function. Supplementing the said auto part is a lithium ion battery pack and one hydrogen storage tank. Moreover, the battery and hydrogen tank combo makes the electric drive motor of the Honda work. The combination of Hydrogen and Oxygen (from fuel cell stack) results to a chemical energy that produces the electricity.
Aside from the alternative power sources, the Honda FCX Clarity also boasts of other auto parts like the upholstered seats and door linings that are proudly made of Honda Bio-Fabric. According to the company, this alternative fabric is taken from plants.
The promise of zero emissions is all that inviting. There is no assurance, however, that every U.S.-based motorist that plans to buy the FCX Clarity can get hold of the car. According to Honda, the initial release of these green cars will only be of a limited number. The reason behind this is that the available Hydrogen refueling stations, which can be located through the navigation system, cannot accommodate that much cars. It may probably take some time before the distribution of the Honda FCX Clarity goes full blast.

"We don't have the infrastructure to refuel the vehicle," said Ed McCurry of Salem-based O’Brien Auto Group. "I'm guessing it will be a good while before we have decent infrastructure."
The Honda FCX Clarity vehicles will find their way to Southern California this June.
